Q: I am comparing this unit to a Badger 5lb Purple K unit. This unit is 20BC and the Badger unit is 30BC. What does that mean? Is one superior?

A: The number next to the B rating on a fire extinguisher is meant to approximate the size of a fire it can fight.

On a 20B(C) rating, the number represents the square footage of the fire that an average person can extinguish. A 20B-rated fire extinguisher is designed to handle a fire involving flammable liquids over an area of 20 square feet.

You mentioned that the Badger unit has a 30BC rating, as we can see here

This means that the Badger unit is rated to extinguisher a 30sqft fire, compared to the Buckeye being rated for a 20sqft fire.
