Questions and Answers

Q: This customer has been contemplating his hinge requirement for a while. He'd like a SS hinge but doesn't want to penny up for it. He has asked about Bommers satin nickel /clear coat finish on steel and wanted to know an expert's opinion on the longevity and consistency of this finish. 646 I already responded that Bommer is high quality, however, I figured I should get my expert's opinion as well. Is there any reason for caution or concert on this plated finish? Thank you. -Cory

A: Simply stated if the application is an interior climate controller setting, the client will be very happy with Bommers 646 Satin Nickel finish over steel. Fun Fact: I have been to Bommer's plating facility and have witnessed the process. I met at length with the plant manager and Bommer as a company is extremely proud of their finished product.

Having said this, if this is a humid, exterior application, I would consider nothing short of 630 Satin Stainless Steel assuming the clients budget will allow it.
