Q: See attached per my live chat this morning. Need to replace both struts. Let me know! Thanks!
A: Did you say earlier that this model of rough patch was Bilco?
Q: We could not find any serial number on the hatch. It has been painted a few times and if anything was there it has since been covered up. I have attached a few more pictures we took while looking today but we are "sure" it is a Bilco Roof Hatch.

A: Providing a serial number is always very helpful knowing this will allow us to know exactly what the bill of materials was when this unit was manufactured - and the reason for being able to pull the bill of materials is so that we eliminate all of the potential guesswork involved in which lifting mechanism you will require.
Having said this - the additional information you have provided has allowed me to sort out what you need and based on the attached images and the fact that there was only one bracket holding the spring at the top and that this this is a steel painted hatch
tells me you would need the RPRS2SS-E with a 180# springsand to fit in the rounded bottom bracket (that is a REAL old hatch) a small modification must be made. The bottom tube has a tab welded to the bottom which extends beyond the tube. In order to insert this into the rounded bracket the tab must be nipped of for ground down.
Therefore the Bilco RPRS2SS-E is seen here:

I would also like to mention, which is unsolicited, but I noticed it in your photographs that you are missing the padlock hasp bracket that you might want to consider adding cuz it may be a more elegant way to lock off the unit from the inside from being used to exit. This item is the
Bilco SD50-P Padlock Hasp
As seen here:

Based on your photograph it looks like you are able to lock down via padlock the interior handle which would serve the same purpose - however I do see the potential for being able to relatively easily destroy or damage the interior spindle on that latch assembly.
Just thought I would mention it.
Q: I want to order the Bilco S-40 Roof Hatch. Let me know if you can find the ceiling hatch Fire rated with Flange 22x30 - Do you have a recommendation on : Ceiling/Access panel 22" x 30" Steel Fire Rated with flange drops down, not up not for plaster
A: We can indeed absolutely help you with a downward swinging fire rated access panel in a 22 inch by 30 inch size for a ceiling application.
The JL Industries 2230FD 22" x 30" Fire Rated Access Panel as seen here:

Is the proper item that you need and then I would suggest purchasing an additional spring as seen here:

And for further proof of concept please review the details on page 2 of the installation instructions as seen here:
