Q: do these cover the open length of 24 5/8"
A: No - Most likely what you have is a non Bilco product. Is there a follow-up question I can assist with?
Q: I have a new Babcock-Davis roof hatch BRHPG36X30S1T. Their shock is a POS, and it broke the first week after installation. Do you have a robust replacement shock kit that I can use?!!!! Eric [removed].
A: I do not have any experience with Babcock Davis roof hatches and I've not heard anything necessarily good or, until now anything I necessarily bad.
I sell roof hatch replacement parts from Bilco and from JL Industries.
I cannot however tell you that any of them are going to work completely compatible with the unit that you have, however having said that, since a roof hatch is a roof hatch is a roof hatch, I would expect that you would have complete success using the replacement Bilco roof hatch shock that I have linked to down below this paragraph.
Please review the item link to down below along with the installation instructions and the link to the video review that I have posted on that page.
Please let me know what your thoughts are after review.

Q: Is the spring available as a stand alone product from the rprs1ss-e and can you tell me the dimensions?
A: After having spoken with the manufacturer Bilco, the spring is not available as a standalone part. Bilco was able to tell us the uncompressed RPRS1SS-E spring has a length of 16 1/4 inch +/- 1/4" and a diameter 1 3/16"

Q: Is the only reason you supply two (one of each hand) of the brackets from the lid to the top portion is because otherwise it would be a handed unit?
A: Indeed yes - The manufacturer like to keep this procurement of replacement parts as easy as possible, when possible to to do - It’s not so much that the unit is handed, it’s the way the mechanism is installed in the hatch. They just always send two top brackets (one of each hand) so the customer would be prepared for either a left hand or right hand scenario.

Q: Is this price for a pair of shocks or just one? I am looking for the pair.
A: The price for the
Bilco RPRS1SS-E Replacement 100 lb Lifting Mechanisms for Roof Scuttle - Zinc Plated Steel

Q: Hi, We have a Bilco 100lb lift, RPRS1SS-E. Would be be able to switch the spring to the 180lb version? Or would I have to buy a whole new unit? Let me know.
A: Its true that you can put different versions of lifting mechanisms on rough patches but the only way or time in which you would do that meaning replace a piece of equipment is once youve determined that you have selected the right piece of equipment life and what Im trying to say is we should ask the factory to tell us what is the proper lifting mechanism to put on your door so that you dont create an unsafe situation.
Is there a serial number on the sidewall at all and if not please provide photographs and dimensions of the existing and I will ask the factory to tell us what is required to the best of their ability.
