Q: I am looking at ordering a AD433 Best Combinator. I see AD433-2 and -3, etc... How do I know which one to order?
A: How you order this is using either -2 for A2, -3 for A3 and -4 for A4 system.
The difference on the A2, A3 and A4 is the pin stack height as summarized here:
A2: 23
A3: 16
A4: 14
and also
Difference between pin lengths:
A2: 0.0125"
A3: 0.018"
A4: 0.021"
Most systems will be A2 with a few being A4...
Q: I had someone chat requesting which of the Best Access AD433s have the ability to cut a Q keyway... Do you know the answer to this or should I consult with the manufacturer..? Thanks!--
A: There would be no restriction with cutting a 'Q' keyway from Best with the Best Access AD433 Key Combinator.
we simply need to specify the correct configuration of the machine based on the system deployed at the time of order.
Q: Thanks for the quick response. I have a couple more questions for you. Looks like this combinator will cut all keyways for standard best keys. From what I'm reading on the manual nothing needs to be adjusted going back and forth between keyways correct? Assuming the combinator is new, correct? Do you guys sell Q keyway blanks? If so how much for large orders (aprox 500 keys). We are a commercial property management company and have several best key schedules that we manage. Looking to take key duplication in house. Thanks!
A: I would argue, not to dissuade you from this key purchase, this task can be accomplished for FAR less money based on your potential purchase. How many keys do you cut a month?
Q: Richard I seen you video on the best right hand key cuter as seen here:

You said that you sell to the government. I am a Locksmith on Fort Hood Texas in Killeen Texas . I was wondering if you sell to us because we get a lot of our lock parts for intermountain Security supply ? If you don’t let me know so maybe we can buy from you. They are sometimes looking for new suppliers. Thanks Ray
A: We will certainly sell to you and I very often sell these combinators to military installations as Best keying systems are most prevalent on military installations - what specifically may I do to assist at this time?
Q: I am trying to find out how to convert my AD433-2 so I can cut the BEST KABA Peaks keys. Do I need a new machine or can they be converted?
A: The Best AS433 series of combinator's are very fine pieces of equipment and I do understand what you would like to do. I will happily review your ability to convert your machine - please tell me now do you have a left hand or right hand configured combinator? Also let me know are you looking to cut 6 pin or 7 pin Peaks keyblanks.
Q: Thank you for getting back to me. I have a right hand unit I currently use for my A2 cores and we will be doing 7 pin Peaks blanks
A: According to the Best service manual,
All patented keyways require a LH configuration, therefore, your right-hand combinator cannot be converted to cut Peaks 7 - pin for your A2 system. The tool that you need is the Best Access AD437 Key Combinator as seen here:
