Baldwin 6321.099.KIT

Q: I need to convert my 6321 from knob to lever. I saw this video and thought this was exactly what I need. So I purchased 6321.099.KIT (not from AB Supply because of the quicker shipping available from your competition for which I paid a premium). I just discovered (while trying to do the conversion) that contrary to what you say, this kit does NOT convert a knob strength lock body to a lever lock body. The knob strength 6321 lock body does NOT have the post which in step 1 the new "spring spacer" part (the small bushing) is supposed to slip over. And which preloads the lock hub spring in step 2.2. I dont know if older 6321 knob strength lock bodies used to have the post, but mine clearly doesnt (my lock body is about 30 years old and has the emergency egress feature and the multi-piece deadlatch). My 6321 lock body has holes in the front and back sides of the lock body where the post should be but doesnt have the post. The back side of the lock body has a square hole and the front (removable) side has a round hole. I assume that the post is press fit into the square hole. But the kit does not include a post to press into the empty square hole in the lock body. Apparently, this kit is only a repair kit for a lever strength 6321 lock body which has a weak hub spring thats causing the lever to sag. Do not buy this kit if youre trying to convert a knob strength lock body to a lever strength lock body (unless you have a source for the missing post and can press fit it into the back side of the lock body). FYI, I purchased a Baldwin 6321.099.KIT based on your YT video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRzSfw7c7xg But I discovered that the information in your YT video is incorrect. When I tried to install it in my Baldwin 6321 knob strength lock body, I discovered that my lock body does NOT have the post which the hub spring preloads against. Theres just a small square hole in the back side of the lock body where the post should be. image.png And theres a matching countersunk screw hole in the front cover plate. image.png Did I purchase the wrong kit? Is there a kit which includes a threaded post which fits into the empty square hole in my lock bodys backplate? My guess is that the 6321.099.KIT parts are only usable to repair a broken (or worn out) lever strength body which has developed a sagging lever. And, contrary to your YT video, its NOT possible to convert a knob strength lock body to a lever strength lock body using just this kit. Short of buying a brand new lock body, do you have any suggestions about how I can do this conversion?
