Questions and Answers
Q: I am looking for a deadbolt spring for “(N41-US3) LOCK ARROW MORTISE”. The lock is from the late 1980’s. I attached a picture of a similar spring(Corbin Russwin Co. 701F22-8 Deadbolt Spring) and a picture of the lock itself. The spring I need has a straight end instead of the bent end. Images as seen here:

Thanks for your help.

A: I have no way to assist with this hunt for the spring as the manufacturer cannot provide a parts drawing of their mortise locks. Just to confirm I called arrow who has nothing published on parts diagrams of their current lock body nor their former lock body that are available for public review.

I realize that the Corbin Russwin spring that you have found cannot really be altered but you might be able to put it into a vice and bring it flat enough and then under a hammer and an anvil you might be able to make it work well enough. I understand that it's tempered steel however have you attempted to modify a spring that is available?
