Questions and Answers

Q: Very informative... I use a 12 volt DC Digital keypad and RFID card reader to activate my 12 volt DC electric strike but in the past 10 months, the door strike has been popping the door open at irregular times without any warning... We have been home when it happens and it has us beat why the door suddenly unlocks.. I had considered that perhaps there is an electronic interference or transmitter activating the system...? Your opinion would be appreciated

A: Interference is most certainly a possible cause and I would start with troubleshooting the least expensive component and quite frankly it is very likely the electric strike.

Can you tell me more about this electric strike? Is it fail safe meaning that it is only unlocked when power is applied to the circuit? I would imagine that it is although we do need to confirm. Please advise
