Questions and Answers
Q: Hello, I have an older model Yakima RocketBOX that is missing its keys. I have contacted Yakima and they have not been able to help me with replacement keys, or even be able to tell me who made the locks. The front of the lock is marked C12. Could you please tell me if you might have any replacement locks that would fit my Yakima RocketBox? I have included a number of photos of the cam lock as seen here:

Thank you very much. Best Regards, Tam D

A: While I'm unfamiliar with the piece of equipment you have and the manufacturer of the lock that you have and as a result I'm unable to help assistant directly however I can tell you the following which is intended to be of the most sincerest of assistance:

I would look for someone who has the ability to impression a key (“impression” is indeed the industry technical term for what locksmith skill your potential solution must possess).

The method of impressioning a key is considered a basic “must have” skill as a locksmith and is a time-tested and true method of originating a key for z lockset. I expect that lock is a disc wafer lock which ought to make the process quite simple and straightforward for an experienced locksmith. Of course all this is premised on the locksmith being able to obtain a key blank that will pass into the cylinder. The locksmith shop I would select would, not only have in their employ people who have been in the locksmithing industry for several years if not decades, but also maintain a deep inventory of key blanks.

Q: Hello Richard, That may be the most helpful information that anyone has given me in my quest. Thank you very much. Have a great day,
A: It is my pleasure to help.
