Q: im currently looking at the 65A zero threshold and was wondering what you would recommend for the gap size from threshold to underside of door?
A: The threshold is 1/4 inch beneath the door, you'd need to add at least 1/16 inch clearance to the threshold height so .3125 total clearance for the threshold is what we'd recommend...
Q: does it come @ 72"
A: It does. The part number simply changes from Zero 65A 36 to Zero 65A 72.
Thank you!
Q: is a dark bronze finish more expensive than aluminum
A: Yes in all instances bark bronze anodized aluminum is noticeably more costly than mill aluminum and marginally more costly than clear anodized aluminum.
Q: SHOULD THE DOOR BE UNDERCUT 3/8"
A: In my opinion an undercut of 3/8" would be the ideal undercut.
Q: What type of caulking would you recommend under the threshold?
A: This certainly depends on below the threshold what you were adhering to. If you have a specialty material that you are applying the threshold to I would certainly look for a compatible caulk.
I have personally had tremendous success using Polyseamseal Caulk in all types of applications as I find it to be quite durable, weather and moisture resistant and remains flexible enough to work the product so that you have an applied precisely as you might desire.
I would consider this type of caulk an excellent option for sealing the threshold to the sill.
Q: Bidding a project and architect specified a Zero Brand #65 threshold for the 9ft. garage door opening. Is that available and if so where?
A: The nine foot length is indeed available on the Zero 65A 5" x 0.5" Rabbeted Threshold.
