Q: what are dimensions of 50lb tank and weight when filled?
A: The top of valve to bottom of cylinder is 29.94" and it's 10" in diameter. The overall dimensions do not change whether it's filled or not. When this unit is filled it is about 85lbs. Is there a follow-up question I can assist with?
Q: when is this cylinder considered out of service
A: Hydrostatic tests are needed after 12 years, and every 6 years thereafter. As long as the cylinder passes the hydrostatic test, it can be re-certified.
System inspection to be in service will depend on local Authority Having Jurisdiction. Many states require a system inspection twice a year to be compliant but that will vary based on your location.

Q: when is this cylinder considered out of service
A: This cylinder will need to have a hydrostatic test 12 years after the date of manufacture. It will also need a hydrostatic test each six years after that. The cylinder could be considered out of service if it has not had a hydrostatic test. At which time, it can be performed and if it passes can be put back into service.

Q: I HAVE A OLD MONARCH PCI-50S ABC BLACK LABEL ARE THEY STILL ABLE TO BE USED? IT SAYS UL LISTED 92G0.
A: Your fire suppression system must be UL 300 to comply with current safety standards. The only path forward is to update your system to be UL300.

Q: ITS FOR A FURNACE CLOSET. DOES IT STILL NEED TO BE UL LISTED?
A: It does not matter what the application. To be an "in-service" system, it will need to be UL300 listed and pass regular inspection/maintenance intervals based on your AHJ.

Q: FYI On November 21, 1994, a new Underwriters Laboratories test standard entitled UL 300, Fire Testing of Fire Extinguishing Systems for Protection of Restaurant Cooking Areas, went into effect. This new standard is the result of changes in fire hazards involving commercial cooking equipment.
A: Thank you for contributing this.
Q: UL300 has nothing to do with dry chemical
A: The system it is used in does however.
