  • In a steel (hollow metal) door, the raceway is typically a length of conduit installed during door fabrication.
  • In a wood door, the raceway is typically bored or drilled after door fabrication.

    A raceway in a door is required when electronic locking hardware is specified.

  • The raceway provides a clear wiring access through the door core from hinge edge to lock edge.
  • The raceway will start at either an electrified hinge prep or an EPT (electric power transfer) prep.
  • Raceways are required when and Electric lock or Electric strike are specified:

    A raceway includes the factory installation of the required conduit to provide the clear wiring access through the door core from hinge to lock edge. In addition to the raceway, the following optional hardware preparations must be specified and added to the door order:
