Q: Can you tell me why in the description of the ETR for the 9400 in the catalog it states that the extended top rod can handle doors from 7 to 9 foot or 8 to 10 foot. Are there two versions of the extended top rod kit or would it be more elegant to say that since there's only one version it would handle doors greater than 7 foot and up to 10 foot. please advise.

A: There is just one version of the ETR top rod extension for the 9400 series device. The ETR is 24" long and is a single rod. This rod is added to the top of your existing device, The reason the catalog language is, as it is, is because, when the 9400 series is ordered, it is shipped as a 7/0 device or specified as 8/0 or taller in fact. Therefore when you add the 24" ETR to the standard 7/0 device you can achieve 9/0 tall and if you are adding the ETR to an 8/0 device you can achieve the 10/0 door height requirement.

Q: If I have a 7/0 device and 10/0 doors, can I purchase two ETR to achieve a 10/0 door height?

A: Yes indeed - you can use 2 ETR to get 3’ of extension. Just be sure the installers cut the correct end of the second ETR…
