Video review of Dorbin 199AS Head & Jamb Weatherstrip
Items reviewed in this video: Items related to this video:
This video is to bring you a closer look at the Dorbin 199AS Head & Jamb Weatherstrip.
The 199 represents the fact that this is an aluminum extrusion.
The A stands for the fact that this is in the mill aluminum finish.
The S stands for silicone (material of the seal).
Very good quality seal.
The 199 is a typical holder, this is standard for commercial steel doors.
The S is an upgrade from the vinyl, much more capable of handling extreme temperatures and UV rays.
The height of the holder is 3/4", overall projection is an 1-1/16 and the on the silicone only it is about 5/16", projection on the aluminum extrusion is a 1/4".
Available in a the A finish (mill aluminum), also in the D finish (dark bronze).
This material is used many places in terms of perimeters of doors, single/double doors, windows, really anywhere you need to seal things.
Includes screws in a complimentary finish (6 x 5/8")
Available in several different lengths on the website, in sets as well.
If you have need for a custom length by all means let us know by ordering the next longest piece or pieces and indicating in the comment field what size youd like for us to cut this back to.
The reason for this is if you had to cut this 3ft down to 34" youd eliminate that slotted hole and drilling a slotted hole is not easy.
Having the slotted hole is nice because it is going to give you a small amount of lateral adjustment so that you can sort of taylor how much contact this is making with the door.
This can be used as an astragal as well.
If you end up cutting this and eliminating that hole, the next one is father down on the item.
If you order a custom length with us well not only locate the holes in the proper dimension from the edge, but also the proper center to center as well.
Another reason why that slotted hole is important is because when youre drilling the frame/door (steel, wood, fiber glass, ect.) the drill bit has a tendency to walk a little bit before it pierces through, especially if youre not using a center punch.
That slotted hole helps forgive that type of installation issue as well.
