Video review of Bommer LB4310C-350-603 3.5x3.5in Single Acting Spring Hinge-Full Mortise-Zinc Plated

This video is to bring you a closer look at the Bommer LB4310C-350-603 3.5x3.5in Single Acting Spring Hinge-Full Mortise-Zinc Plated. The 'LB' stands for lube bearing (self-lubricating feature). The 4310C means this is a single acting spring hinge 130 thousandths thick leaf, square corners, template pattern on the screw holes. The 350 means that this hinge is 3-1/2" tall and 3-1/2" wide. The 603 means this is zinc plated (good for corrosion resistance). This is steel based. This is a full-mortise design, you can see from the swag on the hinge leaves that this is intended to be mortised flush to the door and frame. A spring hinge like this will be used on 1-3/8". This is a self closing spring hinge. This can also be matched with another standard 3-1/2" hinge because the vertical axis pivoting is compatible. There are instructions on the box this hinge comes in, but there is also a link below this video to the instructions. You will receive a tension rod and pin with this (one pin per spring hinge). To set the tension insert the tension rod into the hole on the collar of the hinge (collar side up when installing). Turn the collar clockwise and reveal the additional holes, then place you pin in one of the holes and remove the tension rod. For use on left handed or right handed applications. Regarding how many spring hinges you should use, Bommer has a guideline for that. Up to doors 3ft x 7ft would be the maximum size. If you have 70LBS doors they recommend two hinge and if you have doors that are 90LBS use three hinges. If you have a door that is half the weight, possibly use one spring hinge. When you have more spring hinges than what a guide recommends, you have more chance for success. This means that with just one spring it has to overcome the weight of the door, the air pressure, friction and the force of the latch hitting the strike plate. You'd have to turn the tension up higher, but then you run the risk of the door slamming and not latching. This way with the more hinges you use, the less amount of work one or two have to do. The better chance of the door closing and latching is much greater. There is a link below this video to the template that shows all the important dimensions. There's also a link to certification and hinge selection guide (technical speak regarding the hinge). Bommer has this available in several different finishes, sizes, and variants for the hole patterns. This Bommer hinge is made in the U.S.A.
