Video review of Pemko HS4-50PK Hinge Shim
Item reviewed in this video:
Pemko HS4-50PK Hinge Shim
This video is to bring you a closer look at the Pemko HS4-50PK. This is a box of 50, which is how these are sold, 5" hinge shims. When you buy one, you're buying a box of 50. I've got one removed from the box, here it is. That is a typical 5" shim. The fingers are slotted like this so that when you are shimming the door, all you have to do is loosen, kick the hinge out a little bit, insert. You don't have to pull the hinge off the door or the frame, is where you're going to use this. This is 65/1000"; let's have the caliper of truth speak to that. It's 61/1000", 62/1000", but anyway nominally that's going to be considered 65/1000". 5” little bit less common. Be sure that you need 5" before you order these. This could be a lifetime supply if you've ordered incorrectly. The 4-1/2" shim is sure, far more common from Pemko. So you're going to be dealing with your HS1, and that is going to be a 4-1/2" shim that's 22 gauge thick, which is 28/1000". Your HS-2 is your 4-1/2" version that is 65/1000". Your HS-3 is the 5" shim and that 28/1000". HS-4 is this one. Those are the 4 shims from Pemko that you'll be able to purchase. 4-1/2" and 5", 28/1000" and 65/1000". Typical item if you're a hollow metal shop, if you're a door hanger. If you are doing a job where you have lots of hollow metal doors in frames to hang, and they've got 5" hinges, you might just want to have a box of shims lying around because they will make the difference between a poorly fitting door and a nice fitting door, and why people will need to use shims is because well, you know that frame might be ever so slightly out a little bit. It might be this way a little bit, or this way. You might need to just bump that door out ever so slightly, and sometimes 1/16" is all that you really will need. The name Pemko is really not synonymous with hinge shims for use on hollow metal doors and frames. Of course, they're synonymous with weather stripping. There is a link below this video to the manufacturer page where you can pull up their full line catalog and review all of it, and you are also going to find aluminum continuous geared hinges, steel vision frames that can be used in steel doors, and then of course sliding door hardware, aluminum track and hanger door hardware. If you have any questions on the Pemko HS4-50PK box of 50 5" 65/1000" hinge shims, or any other Pemko product, please feel free to reach out to us.
