Q: I have a client who has on hand L9453 with 30-001 obverse C Wants to purchase plugs only for the above mortise cylinder in a C245 keyway. Is the plug physically compatible? If yes, please confirm that a new cam would indeed be required.
A:
The plug is compatible (although you would lose all of the benefits of the Everest system namely the check pin and the only advantage might be simply making it one step slightly less convenient to have copies of the key made), and the plug only for C245 keyway would be a 33-186 and specify keyway. They would not need another cam if the cylinder was shipped after July 2010.
