Questions and Answers
Q: my doors are 144" high and weigh 400 lbs. will these hinges work? A: In fact yes, the Pemko CFS083CP-HD3 83 in Full Surface Clear Anodized Aluminum Continuous Hinge will carry your door that is 12 ft tall and 400 lbs. - the maximum length would be 120 inch on this hinge so I imagine that you are going to special order to that are 6 ft length each. The HD3 conforms to the weight requirement of your door however the 3 in the HD3 allows for a Maximum Vertical Wear Allowable = 0.105” (where the HD1 allows for a Maximum Vertical Wear Allowable = 0.020"). Additional information is as follows: Weight bearing (per BHMA standard ANSI/BHMA A156.26-2006) for heavy duty models: 83" and 85" = 27 bearings, door weight = 540 lbs.; 95" = 31 bearings, door weight = 620 lbs.; 120" = 39 bearings, door weight = 780 lbs. & HD3 hinges conform to Grade 3-150, Grade 3-300, and Grade 3-600 cycle requirements per BHMA standard ANSI/BHMA A156.26-2006.
