Q: Hi, my question is, can install this Norton Door Closer Series 78B/D-RA RH 689 on an arch steel door? it's a new double door unit and I have to use 2 self closers one for each door, about 200 pounds. My Door Elevation can be reviewed here:

A: The answer is yes you can. Please draw your attention to page 17 of the Norton Traditional "Potbelly" Door closer catalog where you will see two bracket options to use this closer on an arch top door as seen here:

Please be midfull to follow the handing requirements mentioned when using these closers specifically with the #6 bracket (they require use of the opposite hand closer body).
For fun and perhaps inspiration I submit to you this excerpt from the Corbin Product Catalog from 1932 catalog as seen here:

Having said all this too be mindful these door closers are not ADA compliant and carry just a Grade 3 rating (the lowest grade on hardware and is considered residential grade). A floor closer might be an option.
Q: Thank you for your response! Regarding the info about this closer being the lowest grade on hardware and considered residential grade. What would you recommend as an option for commercial grade? Rafael
A: I would recommend a floor closer. Can you send me a cross-section of the jamb and door detail, can you tell me what you are using to hang the door in terms of hinges or pivots or if that has not been already specified I can specify that as well and can you show me a sill section?
Q: Thank you for your help with this! Regarding the info about this closer being the lowest grade on hardware and considered residential grade(highlighted paragraph below.) What would you recommend as an option for commercial grade?
A: Please tell me what type of hinge you are using to hang the doors or if you require that I specify hinges as well?
Q: We are using a regular steel hinge 1 inch body with brass pin
A: Could you please be more specific as I do not understand your description of the hinge that you are using?
