Q: Hi, You have a great compliment of hardware products. I am looking for a door threshold--preferably bronze, and preferably fairly low (5/8" - 3/4" high), and with a raised center area like the interlocking thresholds, but, with a thermal break! The builder I'm working with 'had a bad experience' with frost inside a door bottom that was all aluminum, and a very unhappy customer. This is a different customer, but we still want to avoid the problem. I'm looking to use an automatic door bottom with the threshold as well. If I can't find a threshold that has all these properties I might cut the bronze lengthwise and insert a solid piece of pvc or even white oak.
A: is the base material to be bronze or aluminum with a bronze anno finish ?
Q: We are looking for the interlocking style with the raised center area and sloping down toward the exterior, but with a thermal break. It is an inswing door. I conjunction with this we will use an automatic door bottom.
A: I do not have a threshold that meets all your criteria. Thermal Brake and interlocking on solid bronze are mutually exclusive. Can you forgo the Interlocking feature? Can you forward a sketch of this item you are searching for?

Q: If I may ask, what is the reason they are mutually exclusive--is the thermal break relatively new and manufacturers are only targeting the most popular threshold styles? I might have to modify a stock item to suit our needs. Jonathan Walker
A: I am unsure why all the options you are requesting are not to be found on a single threshold (you want solid bronze, thermal break and interlocking). As far as I know, thermal break is a decades old threshold construction type.
What is the ideal width of threshold you are looking for? I have an idea I would like to run past you.
