Carr SPT-12D Specimen Pass-Through Cabinet

Facilitates the collection of lab samples while maintaining patient privacy
11" deep for walls up to 10"
Meets ADA requirements
Also known as Model SPT121211

Description :

All stainless steel, 2 doors (one on each side)
Welded double wall stainless steel construction, ground and polished
Door interlocking systems prevents both doors from opening at the same time
Option to delete the interlock and add standard keyed locks.
A stainless steel wall flange is included with each unit and an opposing wall flange is optional (WF-12 and has an OD of 14-3/8" x 14-3/8" and need to be slightly bigger than the built-in flange as they have holes in them for mounting screws).
Patient side is defined as the side with the fixed flange.
Overall size is 12" high, 12" wide
Rough opening 12 3/8" x 12 3/8"
Accommodates walls up to 10" thick
Handles:
- Knob - standard (shown below)
- Handle - optional (shown below)
The optional handle installed on the door is designed to open with far less force than ADA requirements, see video below.

Questions and Answers

Q: We need a specimen pass through cabinet that has these three capabilities- 1) When one door is opened, other door is automatically locked for privacy (standard on most pass throughs) 2) When door is opened and closed on bathroom side, that door remains locked until the door on the lab side is opened (prevents access to specimen from bathroom side once door has been closed) 3) When door is opened and closed, a small light goes on in the lab that stays on until the door on the lab side is opened (alerts lab staff that there is specimen without having to keep checking the cabinet) Thanks!

A: Hello:

Item 1, no problem, standard.

Item 2, the only thing I can think of is put a keyed lock on the on the bathroom side. I'm not sure if that is what they want though.

Item 3, we do not have a light that goes on, but we can put a glass door on the lab side (it can be frosted glass for privacy) so they can see when the specimens are placed inside.
