Q: I am interested installing an Ives 620 on a wall that is approximately 5-6 inches thick. Are there any sleeves available to accomodate this?
A: I am familiar with the "thorugh the wall" mail slot. The home I lived in as a child, but in 1963 +/- had this in the front elevation. A sheet metal sleeve would be only available as a custom manufactured unit. We can quote this for you. Please forward a sketch to our sales department.

Q: Do you have any recommendations for a "through the wall" magazine mail slot that can be installed vertically? For the custom sleeve, what measurements would you require on the sketch? Thanks
A: Mail slots, as you know, are hinged on the horizontal side only. Would your installation allow for a hinge on the long side of the unit?
Regarding the sleeve we would need top view, right side view and elevation with dimensions.

Q: No the framework of the wall permits only a vertical installation. Are there some mail slots of magazine size that are spring loaded that could serve for a vertical slot?
A: None that I am aware of. I have searched online and found plenty of through the wall units, but nothing specifically for a vertical application with a hinge on the short side.

Q: Would it be possible to mount a wall unit with a hinge on the long side as a vertical unit?
A: I do not see why you cannot. The Ives 620 et al would work vertically as well as horizontally.

Q: Are there any other models that would also be vertically compatible such as a Baldwin?
A: sure but all will have the hinge and spring on the long side of the unit -
