1. You have got to achieve a radius on the style of the door , is 1-1/2" RAD
You have to have a radius on the door because the access of pivoting of the pivot. If you radius you will be able to achieve a margin between the edges and the door.
2.Getting a 1-1/2" radius on the edge of the door is easy but you need tools to do it.
The instruction do not call out for putting a radius on the opposite style of the door which means the gap between the edge of the door and jamb have to be large.
The assembly that goes on the top of the door , 2 parts, frame portion, the one you will mortise to the frame. You will drill a hole to the door appropriate to this stud.

Bottom assembly :the spring tension is not adjustable, it can not be modified so it's important that you use this as in a guide line.
